Which countries qualify for Hainan’s 30-day visa-free policy?

Ordinary passport holders of 61 designated countries are covered by the Hainan-specific policy as of August 20, 2026. Other visitors may qualify under different nationwide policies.

Do I need a visa to visit Sanya or Haikou?

Not necessarily. Both cities are within Hainan Province. Eligibility depends on nationality, passport type, purpose, length of stay, and compliance with Hainan’s entry and travel-area restrictions.

Can I visit Beijing or Shanghai from Hainan without a visa?

Hainan’s 30-day regional visa-free policy does not itself authorize visits to Beijing, Shanghai or other mainland provinces. A different visa-free basis or Chinese visa may apply. Travelers admitted under the Hainan-only policy must obtain any required authorization before leaving the permitted region.
