Frequently asked questions

Transit rules, route limits and the checks still required before travel.

Who may qualify for China's 240-hour visa-free transit policy?

Nationals of the 57 published countries may qualify when they hold an eligible ordinary passport, transit through a designated port to a third country or region, have qualifying confirmed onward travel, and meet the permitted-area and activity conditions. This checker tests only four basic inputs.

Can I return to the same country after visiting China?

If the country or region immediately before and after mainland China is the same, the basic third-country or region transit requirement is not met. This simplified comparison does not verify every intermediate stop on your actual itinerary.

Can I visit any city in China during the 240 hours?

No. Travel is limited to the policy's permitted stay areas, and some province-level jurisdictions cover only specified cities or prefectures. This V1 checker does not validate your domestic route or intermediate rail, road or flight stops.
